The Monetiere Irpino – A numismatic collection
The numismatic collection of the Museo Irpino stands as one of the most significant in the Campania region, and undoubtedly the largest within the province of Avellino. As a result, the Campania region has funded a project aimed at promoting, developing and enhancing the collections of museums of local authority and local interest. The main purpose is to ensure the optimal usability of numismatic materials through interactive installations and information panels.
The numismatic collection is accessible through a touch screen table, allowing visitors to examine coin details and access historical information. Additionally, 45 coins are on display in a cabinet, showcasing the historical evolution of valuable items from the 6th to the 18th century AD.
This collection, housed at the Complesso Monumentale Carcere Borbonico, is a significant addition to the permanent museum exhibits, giving the museum a more prestigious standing within the province.
