March 4, 2023 – March 9, 2024

IRPINO MUSEUM
COMPLESSO MONUMENTALE CARCERE BORBONICO – BOURBON PRISON MONUMENTAL COMPLEX

September 2nd – September 30th
ESCAPE FROM FIGURE by Cristina Nasti and Alfredo Rapetti Mogol
curated by Angelo Crespi

The program of exhibitions at the Irpino Museum continues on Saturday, September 2nd at 6 pm, with the opening of the new exhibit Escape from Figure by Cristina Nasti and Alfredo Rapetti Mogol.

The exhibition rooms of the Bourbon Prison will host 50 works of art that show a dialogue between an established artist Alfredo Rapetti Mogol and an emerging artist Cristina Nasti, on the theme of abstraction. According to the curator Angelo Crespi, the art of the 20th century can be technically described as the story of an escape from figure, and this is exactly what the artists are trying to express through their exhibition. Cristina Nasti presents some works that straddle the border between lyrical abstraction and informal art, in which form and colour serve as catalysts for thought. On the other hand, Alfredo Rapetti Mogol favours gestural painting within a 20th-century tradition where words lose their inherent meaning, remaining mere signifiers, yet still carrying significant lyrical intensity.

The exhibit Escape from Figure curated by Angelo Lorenzo Crespi, in collaboration with the Ferrero Gallery of Contemporary Art in Ivrea, will be on display from September 2nd to September 30th in the setting of Avellino’s Bourbon Prison, during museum operating hours, from Tuesday to Saturday from 9 am1 pm and 4 pm7 pm.
