AMORI DI CRISTALLO
Art event against gender-based violence

Opening on Saturday, November 25th at 5:30 pm

The exhibition Amori di cristallo supports the awareness campaign against violence towards women and gender-based violence.

The opening of the exhibition will take place on November 25th at the Museo Irpino – Complesso Monumentale Carcere Borbonico, in conjunction with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The exhibition will showcase a variety of artistic expressions, including ceramics, dance, photography, installations, painting, performances, writing, sculpture, theatre, and video. All these forms of art come together in a collective denouncement of gender-based violence. The exhibition will run for 28 days, hosting conferences and artistic events throughout this period.

The event Amori di Cristallo has been created and curated by the Amori di Cristallo Committee under the artistic direction of photographer Antonio Bergamino, in partnership with the Demetra Cooperative, Casa sulla Roccia, and Casa Rifugio. These organizations give support to women who are or were victims of violence.

The exhibition is a combination of different art forms, with each artist expressing their unique style. All come together in a collective outcry, “Let’s awaken conscience to free it from stereotypes and taboos, to stimulate reflection, to condemn violence, and to promote gender equality in society”.

The vast majority of women who are victims of violence are abused by those who claimed to love them the most. This love, which can be toxic at times, is also capable of “caging” women, violating them first in dignity and then in body, and rendering them vulnerable.

Amori di Cristallo joins the awareness campaign “Posto Occupato” in the fight against violence towards women. This social, viral, and free initiative aims to keep public attention focused on all forms of gender-based violence. It was launched in 2013 by Maria Andaloro in Rometta, a small town in the province of Messina. Violence against women is a cultural issue and a social responsibility that concerns everyone.  Amori di Cristallo is dedicated to the memory of Antonio Di Rosa, a friend, set designer, sculptor, and painter.
