AUTUMN ROUTES
THE CURIOSITIES OF SCIENCE
Monumental Bourbon prison complex
Thursday 15 December 2022 at 5:30 pm
Science Thursdays at the Irpino Museum end with a “curious” meeting on astronomy! As the winter solstice approaches, Professor Gaetano Abate, curator of the Scientific Section of the Irpino Museum and member of SISFA, and professor Vincenzo Favale, professor of electronics and expert in astronomy, both members of the ScienzaViva Association, will reveal unpublished details about the ‘science of celestial events’ to visitors.
Did you know that the meridian of Etna, also known as the Verteglia meridian, runs just 17 km from the city of Avellino and 700 m from the Verteglia Plateau? What is it and why are we talking about the best-known meridian among geographers all over the world?
Come and find it out on Thursday, 15th December at 5.30 pm at the Irpino Museum for the penultimate meeting of our cultural program “Autumn Routes”!
