“IRPINIA SOSPESA” is a photographic reportage that tells of the metamorphosis that took place in 18 towns of Irpinia, the towns are those that, close to the earthquake, were included in a priority range due to the serious damage they suffered. The journey started from Morra De Sanctis, from the house of Francesco De Sanctis, to continue towards Teora, Caposele, Calabritto, Senerchia, Sant’Andrea di Conza, Conza della Campania, Bisaccia, Calitri, Torella dei Lombardi, Sant’Angelo dei Lombardi , Lioni, San Mango sul Calore, Salza Irpina, Sorbo Serpico, San Michele di Serino, Solofra to end in Avellino.
“This story” says the author Antonio Bergamino, a professional photographer for over 35 years, “if it has a soul it is thanks to the many people I met and listened to in about four months of wandering, collecting stories to turn them into photographic images, after my first click on this journey I overcame all the obstacles I imagined encountering, not least the unexpected Covid-19. ”
Fifty-four photographs extracted from those included in the book of the same name consisting of 176 pages, with introductions by Ugo Morelli and Generoso Picone, published by AreaBlu Edizioni.
People and places that intertwine in an area where the memory of the past has been almost completely erased not only because of the earthquake and where identity emerges less and less. However, the stubbornness of the resilient to stay and continue to love Irpinia remains despite the fact that this land is suspended in a ‘rest area’ waiting for that change that everyone hopes for.
