The Irpino Museum, in collaboration with the <\/span>Videoinsight\u00ae Foundation, <\/b>organises the <\/span>Over Exposed\/Sovra Esposti <\/i><\/b>Contemporary Art Exhibition, curated by Andris Brinkmanis with the artistic direction by Rebecca Russo.<\/span><\/p>\n

The opening of the exhibition is <\/span>on 1st July, 2023 at 6 pm<\/b> at the <\/span>Bourbon Prison <\/b>in Avellino and it will show works of art by internationally known contemporary artists.<\/span>
\nThis is a collective exhibition that joins the past with the contemporary through works of art displayed in a very unique place, that of the Bourbon Prison. The former Prison was built in 1826. It was designed by the architect Giuliano De Fazio, who was inspired by the ideas of the English philosopher Jeremy Bentham, promoter of a new type of prison designed according to the Panopticon structure.<\/span><\/p>\n

The exhibition <\/span>Over Exposed\/Sovra Esposti<\/i><\/b> was inspired, in its title and content, by the \u201comni-vision\u201d that is present in the Bourbon Prison, where the panoptic structure allows the immediate observation and control over everything visible within.<\/span><\/p>\n

Due to overexposure and total lack of privacy, inmates of panoptic prisons developed mental disorders, such as schizophrenia or mental dissociation.<\/span>
\nIn contemporary society, we are heavily and constantly exposed to noise, smartphones, media, pollution, stress, video cameras, artificial intelligence, images, infrared rays and so on. The overexposure to all this causes superficiality, boredom, addiction, homologation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Art can help us react and survive to this excessive exposure, because it develops awareness, insight<\/span> and awakens <\/span>the inner eye, the so-called \u201cInward Eye\u201d theorised by the Romantic poet William Wordsworth.<\/span>
\nThe works of art chosen for the <\/span>Over Exposed\/Sovra Esposti<\/b> exhibition offer a possible way out from contemporary mental prisons and suggest care pathways, questioning and awaking consciences.\u00a0<\/span>
\nA special thanks to the Province of Avellino and the Videoinsight\u00ae Foundation that organised the exhibition.<\/span>
\nRebecca Russo<\/b>\u2019s titled philanthropist, sponsor, collector of contemporary art, psychotherapist, scientific researcher and curator.<\/span><\/p>\n

She created the prestigious<\/span> Videoinsight\u00ae Collection, that is a progressive collection of Contemporary Artworks with psycho-diagnostic and psychotherapeutic impact.<\/span>
\nSince 2013, she has been President of the Videoinsight\u00ae Foundation, a non-profit, innovative, pioneering and humanitarian Institution. The Foundation’s aim is to promote psycho-physical well-being through the application of the Videoinsight\u00ae Method. This is a treatment, tried and tested in Medicine with verified scientific results, based on interaction with selected Works of Art with a high therapeutic impact. The idea is to disseminate internationally and teach<\/span> the Videoinsight\u00ae Method in universities in the field of medicine and art.<\/span> The Videoinsight\u00ae Foundation has created 42 Videoinsight\u00ae rooms in University hospitals worldwide. These are environments for watching contemporary art videos from the Videoinsight\u00ae Collection in order to promote psychophysical well-being. In 2023, the Foundation organised the <\/span>Hater<\/span><\/i> collective exhibition, aimed at the prevention and cure of verbal violence, hatred, arrogance, envy and relational abuse in social networks. In 2022, the <\/span>Love Bombing. Gaslighting<\/span><\/i> exhibit was dedicated to raising awareness of Pathological Narcissism.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nAndris Brinkmanis<\/b>, art critic and curator, was born in Riga and lives in Milan. He is Senior Lecturer and Course Leader of the Bachelor of Arts in Painting and Visual Arts at the New Academy of Fine Arts in Milan and Guest Associate Professor at the Art Academy of Latvia in Riga. He is one of the co-initiators of the Critical Studies Department in Milan and one of the creators of the project <\/span>Education and (Anti)Institutions<\/span><\/i> in collaboration with The Museum of Care and the David Graeber Institute (2021-22).<\/span><\/p>\n

His most recent curatorial projects are <\/span>Panoptic Garden<\/span><\/i>, a week-long public programme for the Uzbek Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, with Sara Raza (Venice, 2022); <\/span>Childhood and History <\/span><\/i>(OCAT, Beijing 2019); <\/span>Signals from Another World. Asja L\u0101cis and Children’s Theatre<\/span><\/i> (AVTO, Istanbul 2019); <\/span>Asja L\u0101cis. Engineer of the Avant-Garde<\/span><\/i> (National Library of Latvia, 2019), <\/span>2nd Yinchuan Biennale. Starting from the Desert Ecologies on the Edge<\/span><\/i> with Marco Scotini, Zasha Colah, Paolo Caffoni and Lu Xinghua (Yinchuan, China, 2018); <\/span>Mei Lan Fang and The Soviet Theatre<\/span><\/i> (Research Project for <\/span>The Szechwan Tale.
